Research on “One Stroke” Theory of Shi Tao from the Perspective of Artistic Ontological Philosophy

Abstract: Hua Yu Lu (Quotations on Painting) by Shi Tao is an important book of Chinese ancient painting theory. “One Stroke” theory is the core and foundation of his painting theory, its connotation and extension has the meaning of mathematics, logic and reason and it also has the philosophical ontological meaning of essence and origin. “One Stroke” theory is not only rooted in the ideological basis of Chinese ancient philosophy of Lao Zi’s “Tao engendering one” and “nature”, “inaction” of Zhuang Zi but also established in the original spirit of “draw from the heart” and “painting skills created by oneself”. “One Stroke” theory established such painting system like ontology, origin theory, experience theory, creation theory, methodology, pen and ink theory, and early education theory, etc.
