Rationality, Belief and Agreement: Evaluation and Analysis on Locke’s Consensus Theory

Abstract: Consensus is a significant spiritual link which makes the society orderly, stable and united. Locke attempted to set up a theoretical system of “moral consensus”, which aimed at making the members from different groups of religious beliefs and cultures into a united political community through explaining in religious, philosophical and political perspectives, to deal with the religious conflicts, moral divergence and political clashes in pluralistic society, and eventually to serve the purpose of setting up a united political society and order.
