Historical Interpretation of “Monument on Consensus on Using Public Scales” in Sanjie Town of North Guangxi

Abstract: The "Monument on Consensus on Using Public Scales" inscribed in the fifth year of Jiaqing reign (1800) has a history of nearly 220 years and is still relatively intact in Sanjie Town, Lingchuan County, Guilin. The monument records the reasons for the local press to negotiate the establishment of a public scale, regulating the trading of the sugar industry, and implementation of relevant regulations. The emergence of this inscription is a symbol of the prosperity of the commodity economy in the southwestern frontier, the formation of a professional market, and the development of national economic integration. Its characteristics of folk documents are prominent and difficult to replace, with high historical value and literary value.
