Abstract: Individuality ideology showed different features in the ideology system of the philosophy of the Pre-Qin period. Mo-tse indicated that the real value consisted in serving the collective and the public, which showed that he attached great importance to the collective and put harsh requirements on the individual. While Han Fei advocated establishing a centralized country with “crucial power controlled by central government”, the realization of the collective value comes first. What is more, he believed that the individual value was usually covered under fake appearances and only turned into a reflection of the monarch’s own interest. Both Mo-tse and Han Fei insisted that the collective value should come first, first the collective, then the individual, and barely referred to the individual and the individual value unless they revealed the collective value first.
