The Inheritance and Protection of Miao Serial Pohui Festivals Under the Background of Cultural Industrialization

Abstract: Like the other intangible cultural heritage, the serial Pohui festivals of the Miao ethnic group are faced with the dilemma of economic development and cultural protection. Thus in its inheritance and reservation, we should handle properly the dialectical relationship between original ecological culture protection and cultural transformation, maintain the principle of “culture being primary and industry being secondary”, and take an objective and rational look at actual effect of intangible cultural heritage industrialization on promoting local economy, and prevent developing from robbing the resources of Pohui festivals; the focus of the intangible cultural heritage protection should rise from the heritage itself to the respect for people and their private rights; give full play to the functions of specialists, non-governmental organizations, and school education on the inheritance and protection of the Miao traditional festivals.
