Abstract: Ping dialect in north Guangxi has attracted close attention from scholars for the matter of its belonging for a long time. Liutang dialect in the southeastern Lingui County of Guangxi belongs to Ping dialect, featured by its pronunciation diversity and the evolvement complexity of finals. There is a kind of final variation on condition of yangping tone, involving ancient rhymes in addition to Chuzhi and Shenshe, and showing that the main vowel tongue position of the yangping tone – evoked finals are higher than that of the non-yangping tone rhyme. According to the exploration of the relationship among tone modulation, value and time length of the finals with final variations evoked by yangping tone by means of experimental phonetics, a conclusion can be drawn that it is the difference of time length on the process of sound variation that leads to phenomenon of tone-evoked variation of finals.
