A Study on the International Students’ Acquisition of the Juxtaposition Attributes

Abstract: Based on the studies of the use of the juxtaposition attributes by Chinese native speakers, this paper analyzes the acquisition of the juxtaposition attributes by foreign students. An analysis of samples of proper usage revels that in the initial and intermediate stage, international students’ using juxtaposition is simpler that the native speakers’. But in the advanced stage, they are basically the same, and the ranking principle of the parallel items adopted by international students does not show obvious difference. An analysis of improper usage tells that the overall error rate from the primary to the advanced stage is declining, and both the international and native students do not have sequence errors, but the cases of misappropriation errors occupy the most.
