Evolution and Distinction: Cross-Strait “Reunification” Discourse Study and Comparison

Abstract: There are fundamental differences on “reunification” discourse between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and the form and use of discourse manifest a essentially conflicting concept in the political discourse. Reasons for this phenomenon are various. This is not only because of the confused definition resulting from the imbalanced distribution of Chinese and Western knowledge across the straits, but also related with value judgment differences and emotion preferences caused by different system culture. In order to integrate cross-strait “reunification” discourse, the basic path exists in fostering mutual interests and on this basis, to update the knowledge system of “reunification” discourse
