Abstract: New evidence of the place of Tang’s provenience and the route of his attacking Jie is found on the bamboo slips, collected by Tsinghua University, in the chapters Yin Zhi, Yin Gao and Tang lives in Tangqiu. According to the chapter of Xi Nian, the actual location of Tangqiu indicates to be Kangqiu, the first fief of Weishufeng which locates in the Yin Dynasty ruins in Anyang, instead of Dangqiu or Shangqiu. Taking the archaeological knowledge, the 14C dating datum, the documents and the war situation into consideration, it was found that Tang’s capital Bo was in north Henan before the war, while Xia’s capital Xiyixia was in south Shanxi, therefore the Erlitou Site may not be Zhenxun, which has long been recognized as the capital of the Xia Dynasty. The main reason of Tang’s attacking on Wei, Gu and Kunwu was to expand its core area of pre-Shang culture in north Henan. Finally, Tang allied with Youshen, who lived in Heyang, Shanxi, to attack Xiyixia from Hequ, written as “to attack Xiyi from the west”.
