The New Literary Power and the Thriving of Jianan Poetry

Abstract: Behind the thriving Jianan poetry stands, this study reveals, the new literary power at Jianan period (196-220), and there resulted in the new concepts and new looks, which are presented in the four aspects as follows: 1) a flourishing neo-Yuefu poetry triggers a follow-up of five-character poetry, and a thriving Jianan poetry is blessed with the new literary styles; 2) full acceptance of Zengda poetry renders poem a new means of interpersonal communication, and well identification of literary reception objects brings about new looks of poetry composition, i.e. to cope with all kinds of social intercourse; 3) the establishment of literary groups and authoring platforms, as well as the organized group composing makes a new period style featured with “generosity and unconstraint”; 4) the prevalence of literary exchanges triggers writers’ comments on each other, thanks to which, more poems of good quality came out and literary criticism took shape.
